How it works

Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) is a powerful skin treatment that uses broad-spectrum light to target and reduce pigmentation and vascular irregularities. The light energy is absorbed by darker pigment such as sun spots and by hemoglobin in visible blood vessels, gently heating and breaking them down.

Over the following days, pigmented areas darken and flake away, while vascular concerns gradually fade, revealing a clearer, more even-toned complexion. Lumecca also stimulates collagen production, helping improve overall skin texture and brightness with minimal downtime.

Service details

Time

Treatment time depends on the area being treated. Smaller areas may take around 45 minutes, while larger or multi-area appointments can take up to 90 minutes.

Downtime

Downtime is usually mild. Redness, warmth, or light swelling can last 1–2 days, and pigmented spots may temporarily darken before flaking away.

Comfort

Most patients describe IPL as a quick snap or warm pulse on the skin. Treatment is generally well tolerated and typically does not require numbing.

Safety screening

Your provider will review your skin, recent sun exposure, medications, and any active skin concerns before treatment to ensure IPL is appropriate and safe for you.

Best results

Most patients benefit from a series of 3–5 sessions spaced several weeks apart. A supportive skincare routine can also help maintain clarity, brightness, and long-term results.

Aftercare

Use SPF daily and avoid saunas, hot tubs, and excessive heat for 24–48 hours after treatment. Aloe gel or a cool compress can be used to soothe the skin if needed.
